Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about learning to dance in Medellín

Getting Started

Absolutely yes! Most students in Medellín start with no previous experience. Schools are designed for beginners and instructors are very patient. All professional dancers started exactly where you are now.

For absolute beginners we recommend Bachata or Merengue. They're slower, have simpler steps, and will give you confidence quickly. Once you master the basics, you can try Salsa which is more challenging but also very fun.

Not at all. Schools organize partner rotation during class. This is beneficial because you learn to dance with different people and styles. If you come with a partner, you can also rotate with other students.

In Medellín, people of all ages dance. We have students from 8 years old to 80+. Many schools offer age-specific classes: children, teenagers, adults, and seniors. It's never too late to start!
