About

Our Purpose...

The Jazz Club was born in 2011, with the aim of building bridges of integration between Jazz, its teachings and lessons, musicians and the public. Today we are a non-profit corporation that seeks to bring the wonderful culture of jazz to diverse audiences in order to contribute to the social development of our city and, why not, the world.

At The Jazz Club we celebrate and defend freedom of expression, diversity, respect and tolerance for human dignity, and our purpose is to build a less violent city, a more peaceful city, with more opportunities, where we have better coexistence and are happier, through Jazz music and its teachings.

We develop and live our purpose through 4 specific lines of work: Culture, Education, Outreach and Promotion: in which we develop talks, gatherings, educational concerts, improvisation sessions, appreciation workshops, our radio program and much more.

A BIT OF OUR HISTORY

Being Medellín a city open to all musical genres, it did not have a cultural project dedicated to Jazz, where one could not only listen to and enjoy Jazz, but learn about it, because despite the great effort made by some institutions and entities to keep this genre alive, there was no project that frequently offered the city the opportunity to enjoy and learn about this wonderful musical genre.

The Jazz Club in Medellín was founded by our current director, Christian Salgado B. on July 23, 2011, and was born from a heartfelt need to disseminate this wonderful musical genre more widely, with the aim of building bridges of integration between Jazz, its teachings and lessons, musicians and the public.

We are a community of lovers of jazz culture, its music, its history, and various manifestations, each one from their perspective and knowledge contributes so that we all learn something new at each meeting and gathering.

A cultural project of this magnitude, with great goals and dreams like Our Jazz Club, requires constant work, support and dissemination. In Our Club only you are missing! Yes, kind reader and visitor of our website, of our monthly gatherings, friend of Jazz, join in this great effort to rescue this wonderful musical genre and be part of the change.

The Club is open to everyone, so you are very Welcome.
